The Memory Foam Mattress Topper.

The Memory Foam Mattress TopperThe memory foam mattress is a fairly new type of mattress that provides a more comfortable sleeping experience. The memory foam can conform to the contours ans the shape of the body that lies on it to provide a more personalized body mold for added comfort. With the memory foam, you can experience a more personalized comfort when it is time for you to sleep.

Aside from the memory foam mattress, there is also what is known as a memory foam mattress topper that is said to be an alternative to buying a whole memory foam mattress. The difference of the memory foam mattress topper is that it is relatively thinner than the actual memory foam mattress. It is used as a topping to existing foam mattresses so you do not have to buy a whole new mattress in order to experience the comfort of the memory foam mattress. You can say that it is the affordable alternative. But it is as effective?

The memory foam mattress topper is designed to sit onto an existing foam surface. This alone may not provide the optimum comfort that the memory foam mattress was initially designed for. First of all, the memory foam mattress itself is designed to sit onto a firm surface in order to function more effectively.

But using a mattress topper over a soft surface would not provide the optimum function that the memory foam may be albe to provide. You could say that putting a mattress topper onto an existing and softer foam surface may defeat the whole purpose.

But there is a way that a memory foam mattress topper may provide some level of comfort for the user. Memory foam mattress toppers are made avaialbe in a variety of thickness. The most common of these mattress toppers is the 2" variety. There are cheaper versions of these that are 1 1/2" thick. The best of these mattress toppers are those that are 3" to 4" thick.

The mattress toppers are also chosen by the density of their material. There are low density toppers that are of the 2.5 to 3.5 lb variety. Then there is also the high density toppers that are from 5.3 lb to 5.9 lb density. The density of your toppers will determine how long they will be able to provide the support you need. The denser the topper you buy, the longer that it will be able to work effectively for you.

When using the memory foam mattress topper, try to place it over a firm surface instead of a soft one. A firm foundation would allow the topper to work its magic in terms of comfort. If it is possible, you can place your mattress topper on the floor to sleep in if it won't be too much of a trouble for you. But if it is, then sandwiching a firm platform in between the mattress topper and your existing foam mattress may be the next best option.

When you are using your memory foam mattress topper, make sure that you don't place a mattress pad over your topper. Bear in mind that memory foam is temperature sensitive. Your body temperature makes it possible for the memory foam to conform to your body shape for added comfort.

Placing something in between your body and the mattress topper will diminish its effectivity in providing the comfort that you need.
